| 1905 | Hokkai Middle School, a private institution, was established. |
| 1914 | Hokkai Middle School was incorporated as a foundation with endowments. |
| 1920 | Sapporo Commercial School was opened. |
| 1933 | Hokkai Middle School Foundation was renamed Byoson Gakuen Institute. |
| 1948 | With the reform of the educational system, Hokkai Middle school and Sapporo Commercial School were reorganized having high school status. |
| 1950 | Hokkai Junior College was opened. |
| 1951 | Hokkai-Gakuen was incorporated as an educational foundation. |
| 1952 | Hokkai-Gakuen University
opened the Faculty of Economics. |
| 1957 | Center for Development Policy Studies was established. |
| 1964 | Hokkai-Gakuen University opened day and evening classes in the Faculty of Law. |
| 1965 | Hokkai-Gakuen University opened a program in Business Administration in the day and evening classes of the Faculty of Economics. |
| 1968 | Hokkai-Gakuen University opened programs in Civil Engineering and Architecture in the Faculty of Engineering. |
| 1970 | Hokkai-Gakuen University opened a Graduate School of Economics (masterLs program). |
| 1977 | Hokkai-Gakuen University of Kitami (the Faculty of Commerce) was established. |
| 1984 | Hokkai-Gakuen WomenLs Junior College of Kitami opened a Department of Business Administration. |
| 1985 | Hokkai-Gakuen marked its centennial. |
| 1986 | Hokkai-Gakuen University opened a Graduate School of Law (masterLs program). Sapporo Commercial High School started coeducation. |
| 1987 | The Department of Electronic Information Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering of Hokkai-Gakuen University was opened. |
